How does it help the children?
Some children are in a dark place but decisions made by the Children’s Panel can help transform their lives and give them their childhoods back.
The Panel can help in cases where the child:
- Is beyond the control of their parents or carers
- Is at risk of mortal danger
- Is the victim of an offence - including physical injury or sexual abuse
- Is likely to suffer serious harm to health or development through lack of care
- Is misusing drugs, alcohol or solvents
- Is not attending school regularly without a reasonable excuse
Just like children, no two hearings are the same.
