BEING A PANEL MEMBER IN ARGYLL & BUTE
Within Argyll & Bute panel members should commit to sitting on 1-2 hearing sessions per month. A hearing session generally comprises up to three cases. In general panel members are rostered to sit on hearings in their own locality.
Panel members are expected to attend local learning and development opportunities throughout the year. In general we arrange 8-12 local sessions per year.
The weekdays scheduled for hearings in Argyll and Bute, by locality, are
Monday - Lochgilphead
Tuesday - Oban and Dunoon
Wednesday - Campbeltown
Thursday - Rothesay, Isle of Bute
Friday - Helensburgh
These are usually morning sessions, however hearings held in Lochgilphead on Mondays are held in the afternoon.

Note: Although the days of the week for holding hearings are set, by locality, hearings do not take place every week. The schedule of hearings is issued, in advance, to panel members, covering a three month period.
In addition, and for various reasons, there will be occasions for hearings to be held on different days to those assigned by locality. These are primarily emergency hearings and panel members are sought for these cases as they arise.
