Graeme Kellett, aged 38, from the Borders, has been a member of the Children’s Panel for 11 years.

Graeme, who is a freelance IT consultant, decided to apply to become a panel member after a friend showed him an advert for new recruits.

Graeme said: “When a friend told me that the Children’s Panel were recruiting new members I decided to take the opportunity to join.  I have always been interested in working with young people and the Children’s Hearings System intrigued me. I wanted to be part of something worthwhile and give back to my local community.”

“Being a panel member is hugely rewarding but at times you face some challenging situations and decisions. The good always outweighs the bad, however, and knowing that I have made a positive difference to a child’s life is something I’m very proud of.”
